Partnership program with the City of Saskatoon
Who it is for:
Individuals with diabetes, pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, abnormal cholesterol, increased body weight and arthritis.
To provide a high quality prevention/rehabilitation program for individuals who want to take control of their health and future well-being.
Offers both education and exercise. Trained instructors will assess needs and help develop healthy lifestyle habits during each session.
Education topics may include: Goal Setting, Action Planning, Basic Anatomy and Strength, Intro to Risk Factors, Exercise Prescription, High Blood Pressure, Arthritis , Nutrition, Physical Inactivity, Diabetes, Body Weight and Composition, Stress Management, High Cholesterol, and Foot Care.
Offered education classes seasonally through the year.
Walking is the key activity for exercise, although the program may also include stationary biking, rowing, upper body exercises, resistance and stretching exercises.
How to Register:
Physician referral or self referral.
The cost includes 3 months of exercise (3 times/week) plus the education cycle that runs seasonally.
