Accessing Services
Referrals to Calder Centre Youth Stabilization Unit are made by youth, families, school counsellors, social workers, or other referral sources by contacting 306-655-4526. If a youth is connected to an addictions counsellor in their community, they are encouraged to contact their counsellor to request a referral.
The Youth Stabilization Unit can be accessed by calling the unit directly at 306-655-4526. An initial phone screening is done to obtain a substance use history and an admission date is provided based on bed availability. Upon admission counsellors will complete consents, collect pertinent information and orientate youth to the program. Family involvement on intake is highly encouraged but not necessary for admission.
Who Do We Serve?
This is a six bed voluntary program. The program length is 4 to 10 days and assists youth age 12 to 18 to stabilize from the physical, emotional, social and spiritual consequences of substance abuse.
Services Offered:
The Youth Stabilization Unit provides youth with insight and awareness into their substance use and related behaviors. One of the most critical goals is to help youth make supportive community contacts. Some of the youth who seek out this service have no formal contact with community supports. We work with the youth in establishing a plan to continue services when they transfer from our program.
The program offers individual counselling, medical assessments and psycho-educational workshops to assist with craving and stress management.
Psychological and psychiatric services are also involved when mental health issues are identified and youth require additional support or assessment.
