What is Mammography?
Mammography is the x-ray examination of the breast used to detect cysts and cancer. Two images of each breast may be taken: one top to bottom view, the other from a side view.
Mammography is one of the best methods to find a cancer before it can be felt.
Mammography, biopsies, galactograms and wire localizations of the breast are performed at the Breast Health Centre at Saskatoon City Hospital.
Screening mammography performed bi-annually on women over 50 is done at the Screening Program for Breast Cancer.
