Preparing for Opening Day - Pediatrics

A pilot unit has been set up in Acute Care Pediatrics at Royal University Hospital to help prepare us for opening day. This is where we are trialing and implementing changes to our care process in improve your child’s and your experience, and enhance safe care.

In June 2014, teams of patients, families, employees and physicians designed a new model of care. The goal of this new model is improve the patient and family experience by optimizing the scopes of all care provider roles and allowing more time for direct care, assessment and teaching. This new model will also support the hospital design which has smaller “flow” stations instead of large nursing desks, has minimal office space, and focuses on maximum bedside team interaction with the patient and family.
