The mission of the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is to provide excellent patient care, education and research in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, leading to improvement in function, independence, health, and quality of life for each individual served.
We provide holistic interdisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation services to patients and families, and we are commited to advancing knowledge of the art and science of rehabilitation.

Who We Are
Rehabilitation care in Saskatchewan is primarily delivered though two main sites. Approximately the northern half of the province is served by the Saskatoon Rehabilitation Centre and the southern half by the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina. We are also affiliated with the College of Medicine University of Saskatchewan.
As a teaching and research unit of the University of Saskatchewan we participate in the training of medical students, other allied professionals, and post-graduate medical residents. What We Do
Programs within the Rehabilitation Care Group provide assessment and rehabilitation to patients and their families in a holistic, timely, cost-effective, goal-orientated, interdisciplinary manner. The care provided is patient centered and based on current evidence in medical research.
Patients served have a variety of physical, cognitive, and/or psychological impairments and disabilities. They normally reside within the province, primarily in the northern half, but may be a resident outside of the province in some circumstances. Service is provided to help patients realize their full potential.
The Rehabilitation Centre provides inpatient and outpatient services to support Saskatchewan adults and adolescents in becoming as independent and safe as possible, given their abilities.
Rehabilitation care located at Saskatoon City Hospital includes the following:
- 35-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, outpatient clinics, Rehabilitation Day Services (RDS), and telehealth clinics, all of which are located on the 7th floor, Saskatoon City Hospital. We provide an interdisciplinary approach to care that involves Physiatry (Rehabilitation Medicine Specialists), Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Clinical Dietitian, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, and Recreational Therapy.
- We care for patients diagnosed with Spinal Cord Injury, Acquired Brain Injury, Amputations, Spasticity, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), ALS, Musculoskeletal Conditions, and specialized seating. We also provide Bracing and Orthotic clinics.
- Partnerships include Saskatchewan Abilities Council, Acquired Brian Injury Program, FIT for Active Living (FIT), Kinetik Rehabilitation Services, Driver Evaluation Program, Kinsmen Children’s Centre, ALS Society, MS Society, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
