Mental Health Week a chance to talk and learn

Saskatoon Health Region Mental Health and Addiction Services staff is hosting a number of events as part of the 63rd national Mental Health Week.

Monday May 5, 2014 - The week kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with Saskatoon Health Region's own Joy of Jammin' performing at the Vimy Memorial Bandshell. A barbecue and other activities will be part of the day. 

Tuesday May 6, 2014 - Crocus Co-op is hosting a pancake breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. 

Wednesday May 7, 2014- Crisis Centre and Saskatoon Housing Authority are hosting a barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Rotary Park by the Sid Buckwold Bridge. 

Thursday May 8, 2014 - "Hear Sam's Story" Sam Corbett from The Sheepdogs will be speaking at the Roxy Theatre along with mentalist Jeff Richards and Sandy Stotz of Canadian Mental Health Association, Saskatoon branch. Tickets are $35.00 through Picatic. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. 

Friday May 9, 2014 - "Living with Mental Illness" workshop is being held at The Travelodge Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can register by calling (306) 655-0472. A dance takes place at 7:00 a.m. at Cosmopolitan Seniors Citizens Centre 614 11th Street East. There is no admission fee for the dance. 

From May 5 to 11, events will also be held across the country to help educate and entertain people about mental health issues.
