Physicians from across Saskatoon Health Region are coming together to learn more about lean and how it is being used in the Region. All Saskatoon Health Region employees are expected to undergo what’s called “Kaizen Basics” training – understanding the basic concepts and terminology of lean. To give physicians the same opportunity to participate without having to impact patient care, a separate session has been scheduled this Saturday, March 8 at Saskatoon City Hospital. Approximately 90 physicians are expected to attend.
“This will give physicians a better understanding of the changes taking place in the Region,” says Dr. George Pylypchuk, vice president of Practitioner Staff Affairs. “It will give them a sense of what to expect when they participate in the events that are organized to improve health region processes. I am pleased to see this level of interest by physicians in the improvement work we are doing in Saskatoon Health Region. It reflects a genuine interest to provide the best care possible to our patients and residents.”
The Kaizen Basics course is offered to all Saskatoon Health Region employees, including physicians, to give everyone a better understanding of lean and a working knowledge of the changes that are taking place in our systems.
