Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region is asking for the public's patience and cooperation as Dynacare deals with a computer issue caused by the Region's lab computer system. This issue has resulted in longer lineups at Dynacare locations. On Sunday, the Region's lab computer system underwent a required and significant software upgrade. The system restoration process has taken longer than expected, and it has slowed down the order entry process in the community collection sites managed by Dynacare. This computer system links the Dynacare locations to the testing facilities in the hospitals. This slowdown in order entry means that clients are now waiting longer than usual at collection sites for service as staff are providing service with limited access to the computer system. The Region is asking the public to please assist with this situation by doing the following: -
If you have a need for ROUTINE testing, please delay your visit to a collection site until Monday June 13th. This will help ensure those needing urgent tests have their tests collected, and entered safely and quickly. While using manual processes, focusing only on urgent tests will help reduce the risk of error.
-
If you require URGENT testing, please DO NOT delay your visit to these locations. If your test is urgent, it has been identified on your requisition form as being urgent by your physician.
Physicians throughout the community are aware of the situation and can assess your needs appropriately. We have a team of experts working to resolve the computer issue and restore our system to normal operations. Saskatoon Health Region and Dynacare apologize for any inconvenience to our clients and thank you for your patience with our staff as they work to provide a safe and high quality service during this time.
